South Burlington Community Chorus Membership Requirements

The South Burlington Community Chorus is an SATB chorus that was founded in 1973 and is partially funded by the South Burlington Recreation Department. There are no auditions to join our Chorus, and you do not have to be a South Burlington resident to join. However, there are some requirements needed to join us. Please see the requirements to join listed below. The SBCC strives to create a community of singers who are committed to supporting one another to learn more about singing, have fun, and provide our audiences with quality performances.

Our Director is Erik Kröncke and our accompanist is Mary Jane Austin. To read more about us visit the ‘About Us‘ page!

Want to Become a Member?

Membership is open at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester and is announced on our website, via our mailing list, and in local media. The chorus does not meet in summer. Fall semester typically begins in September and Spring semester in January. No auditions are required, however there are some requirements, listed below.

Here’s what you need:

  • Although the ability to read music isn’t required, you must have the ability to match pitch and must be able to follow along with the written score. Some familiarity with choral singing or reading sheet music is recommended.
  • Consistently attend rehearsals. Absences affect the group and may impact your ability to sing in the concert. NOTE: If you must miss 3 or more rehearsals, you must let us know by emailing in advance (when possible).
  • Review the music between rehearsals. Some pieces can be more challenging than others and will benefit from at least a quick review so that each rehearsal time builds upon the previous one. We provide recordings on our website of each rehearsal to help with that.

Registration requirements

Advance registration is required prior to the first rehearsal. There will be a  Registration Form on our website during the registration period, which will be announced on our website and in local media, as well as through email to our mailing list.
